Zamari looked down at the bokken in his hand. I don't get it...what went wrong? Tuning out both Ezan and the spirits he attempted to perform another slash with the bokken, this time a vertical downward slash as opposed to a horizontal one. Zamari raised the bokken in the air but as it reached its zenith his arms began to waver. No! Zamari thought, his eyes widened. It can't be! A startling realization hit Zamari. He didn't want to believe it when he first speculated it, but his second failure brought onto him the harsh reality. Zamari was unable to wield a sword without his transformation. He looked at headband before dropping the bokken onto the dojo floor. Feeling Ezan's hand on his shoulder, he spoke, "It was all me. They didn't do anything this time." He balled his hand up into a fist. "But that doesn't mean I'm weak! So what if I can't use a sword without the headband's power! That doesn't mean I can't fight!" Zamari was full on riled up - his adrenaline pumping. For someone who was usually calm and collected, it almost sickening to allow his emotions to get the better of him. Impulsively, Zamari charged towards the dummy to which the headband was time and launched a jump kick towards the center of its stomach causing it to rattle. The headband was unarmed. "As long as I still have my hands and feet I don't need a sword," he declared. I wield one because I choose to. And as quickly as he was fired up Zamari cooled down, turning his attention to Ezan. "You know, I've been fighting long before I got that headband. Maybe I've been relying on swordsmanship too much. I can't allow my hand-to-hand combat to get rusty." After all it was Zamari's lifeline when he was unable to wield a sword which - as he had come to find out - would be most of the time. "I wouldn't mind if we continue training. However, I've decided that I will neglect using any kind of sword for the remainder of the day. Zamari swore he heard a feint hissing rake his ear drums. The spirits weren't pleased with how he decided to get back at them. Edited by Nomad, Aug 20 2016, 01:43 PM.

"They didn't... Uh?", Ezan was puzzled. Was it really them who have done nothing? Or they have intimidated him too much? He didn't know what to believe. But the strike on the dummy was definitive: he still had the will to stand and fight. No matter what. With a grin, Ezan replied "Isn't that so? Heh, I never liked fighting when I was 14. I was afraid of hurting others or myself, or of disappointing my brother. While I was in a journey for time travel, I found myself having to hurt to live and to save my adventure partner." Taking the bokken in hands, for a brief moment, Ezan chuckled. "The reason I learned how to fight in close quarters without relying on my manipulator is because I would never know if I'd find myself in a situation where my abilities were useless...", and then he tossed the wooden sword in an arc, to fall close to the bamboo sword. "So, if you go bare hands...", pulling his coat off, he tossed it away, with a burst of wind sending it flying onto another dummy. He didn't seem strong, but earlier he did show some CQC... Or something similar?! His black shirt was short-sleeved and the whole length of his right arm had bandages. "So will I." |

Zamari smirked, spreading his feet apart as he assumed his karate stance. "That's fantastic," he said as he put up his hands. "Let's get started." Since he allowed Ezan to go first during their previous match, Zamari figured that it would be appropriate for him to go first this time. He sprinted towards Ezan but not too fast to where he couldn't change direction if needed. He had to remember that Ezan was much larger than he was. If he were to approach him from the wrong angle then it would be deadly. Thankfully this was only a friendly spar and their lives were not at stake. Zamari planned to lure Ezan in and create an opening with a feint. First, he intended to throw a punch head on towards his chest and stop midway - a fake attack. Next, he was going to lean to the side and curve his other fist around to hit Ezan in the side. Zamari knew that this strategy was risky for if Ezan caught on he would be open himself for a full on counter. |

Not only size had to be taken in account, but also the additional features Ezan had. That all however would not matter, his stance was that of a boxer, but he would use only counter and defensive moves. After all, his style was to be used for defense, not offense... And that was obvious earlier. And again, would be something Zamari would be able to easily take notice. The feint would encounter a palm ready to redirect his fist, but the actual punch itself would be met with... Nothing. Ezan has stepped to the opposing side while still facing him. His tail moved high and to the side, as if he was about to sweep Zamari with it, but this was only a distraction. Instead Ezan would whip a straight punch towards Zamari's chest, it would probably give a stinging pain and leave quite a bruise if it hit... As well, as Zamari would be able to observe that Ezan was cushioning his moves intentionally with air concentration around his hand. |

Heh. Zamari thought as Ezan raised his palm to block his punch, initially perceiving that he fell for his feint. Before his first punch could connect with Ezan's palm Zamari leaned to the side and threw his actual punch towards Ezan's side. However, he was surprised when the lizardman maneuvered away. Crap! Zamari's eyes widened. Ezan was certainly a tough opponent. Eyes locked on Ezan's tail as he swung it, Zamari was not aware that he played into his opponent's ploy. Zamari was convinced that Ezan was going to sweep him with it and why wouldn't he? He was another tool in his arsenal that could work entirely to his advantage. Zamari prepared to jump backwards to avoid the incoming sweep but was surprised when a pain seared through his chest, the force causing him to slide back. Ezan had enacted a strategy that was similar to his own - he had distracted Zamari with his tail only to follow up with a devastating blow. But Zamari was not finished yet. Ignoring the pain that he was in, Zamari knew that he could not afford to waste time. He rushed towards Ezan the first chance he got. Still sticking to his method of trying to trick him, Zamari wanted to appear that he was about to charge directly at Ezan. When he got close but not too close, he would then jump into the air and attack with a downward kick with his target being Ezan's shoulder. He knew that this plan was risky considering that Ezan had his tail to block with. Truthfully, Zamari had very little idea as to how to get around Ezan's tail for it was his bout against an opponent who had one. |

It hit! Ezan was surprised this trick worked, but couldn't afford to lower his own guard right now! He prepared yet to avoid or counter another attack, but still couldn't read what would be the best idea. He had to see the attack closer to him, however... This was yet another feint from Zamari. One Ezan hasn't encountered before. Normally he would have countered with an air blast, but that would be too unfair here! He felt no choice, other than brace for the impact, which sent him reeling back. With a chuckle, he grasped his left shoulder. "Man, that was a nice one, huh? How did you know I had never encountered someone who would air kick me down?", way to expose your weakness, "But now got me thinking of ways to deal with it." |

Zamari surprised himself with his own success. He had expected to Ezan to use his tail to swat him away like a fly. Turns out he managed to catch his opponent off guard after all. He landed in front of Ezan and black flipped away to avoid retaliation. They were both even with one hit on the other. Whoever hit next would take the lead. "Don't count me on doing the same move twice," Zamari said. With that, he was already putting his next plan into action. Ezan had indeed exposed weakness by grasping his shoulder and Zamari intended to exploit that. The key to this fight is defying his expectations. Since Ezan already held so many innate advantages over him, the only hope Zamari had at victory was to keep on trying to trick him. Keeping his distance, he dashed around Ezan in a circular path towards his rear. Hopefully he won't expect to go there. To Zamari Ezan's tail was his most deadly asset. Zamari had been highly cautious of it since the fight's beginning and he hoped Ezan picked up on that. If so, he intended to use it to his advantage. Ordinarily, it would be utterly foolish to attack Ezan from behind with the tail to worry about. Which is why I won't attack there at all! If Zamari was able to make it behind Ezan, he would next rush him again. He knew that Ezan would perceive his incoming even if it was from the rear which is why he planned yet another feint. If Ezan did not manage to stop him before he could get close enough, Zamari was going to run along his side and then deliver a low sweeping kick. This was his most risky strategy for it could easily be stopped given Ezan's additional appendage. |

Ezan did a slow shoulder rotation, seemingly not paying attention to Zamari. No, this was a lie. He kept eyes on him, but also felt the air around him disrupt with Zamari's movements. Meanwhile, he was also pondering on what he would be surprised with and this time... It was a sweep. As he was about to fall, however, he smirked and supported himself on his hands, before propelling himself back. At this moment, his tail would whip toward Zamari's face. It would probably be way more humiliating than painful to get whipped like that. And probably leave a light bruise at worst. Ezan would soon find himself standing again, however massaging his shoulder. "I think I'm gonna get a bad bruise here." |

Whap! The hit to Zamari's face threw him into a shock, sending him soaring back and skipping across the dojo floor. He was delirious for several seconds before regaining focus and clambering up onto a single knee. It was exactly what he thought would happen. That tail... Just how was Zamari going to get around it? Perhaps just flat out avoiding it would be best. "Congratulations, my face is marked," Zamari said, pointing to the bruising on the spot where Ezan had whipped him with his tail. "You're up one but I vow to come back![/blue] Zamari quickly scanned Ezan's body to get an idea of his condition. Again he rubbed his shoulder, signaling to Zamari that he was still in pain. The same weakness was still there for him to exploit. His shoulder looks like it's still aching. That may affect his ability to throw punches. Maybe I can fight him head on, but first I'll need to get close enough to corner him. If Ezan's punching ability was indeed restricted, that did not mean he still could not rely on kicks or his tail to attack Zamari. Since Ezan would always the advantage of length over Zamari, he decided that it would be best to close the gap between them to condense his movements. This time Zamari rushed Ezan head on with the full intention of fighting him head on. If Zamari was lucky then Ezan would expect yet another feint. If Zamari was able to close in Ezan, he would deliver a flurry of punches towards his body. |

"Heheh, you took it easier than my last training partner. When I did that he went berserk.", Ezan would have time to spare a few chuckles, before he once again found himself in defensive. Parrying those attacks were extremely difficult, specially when it came to his left, which suffered a few blows from him being unable to properly use his left arm. And with one to the face, he was sent farther back, his back pressing against the wall. However, Zamari would certainly feel that his fist has been slowed before hitting his face. Ezan knew what was coming for him. "I was right, but you can't touch me now.", was he bluffing? No, he wasn't. And Zamari would see why as soon as he were to go for his next attack. Ezan would propel up and out of reach, floating high above him and looking down. |

Zamari managed to land a few hits towards Ezan's left side which was his primary objective. He had expected Ezan to more or less perfectly defend his right side and was satisfied that he still hit him a few times at least. When Ezan backed against the wall Zamari thought that he finally had Ezan cornered. Good, he was going to finish this with a final blow. Easier said than done. As Zamari went for this "final blow" he felt the momentum of his punch slow before it could connect with Ezan's face. What? He forgot that Ezan had air manipulation capabilities. He must have been saving it for the later stage of his fight. The situation became even more complicated when Ezan soared above Zamari. Ergh.... How was he going to beat him when he couldn't even reach him? Zamari had no other choice but to wait. While there was little to no way for him to predict what Ezan would do next, Zamari anticipated him to dive down towards him with another physical attack. If he did so then he would try to avoid the attack by leaping to the side. Then he planned to immediately retaliate as soon as Ezan was in reach. |

Ezan would walk left and up high in the air, his tail in a "S". "You know, you can simply say this is not fair and say I'm disqualified. I'll be OK with admitting to cheating. I'm feeling a little too sore, ya see, hm...", he seated midair, looking a bit upset, "Ey, I just realized, I never got your name, and you never got mine." With a flip, he went for a dive kick a decent distance from Zamari, sliding in a kneeling position due to an air sphere that lessened his friction on the floor. "Ezan Bywan, former E.V.E. Navigator #24, former student from Hyakuji High, currently Freelancer Photographer.", he stoop up from his kneeling and awaited Zamari's response It was only fair they would get to know who they have been training with, right? |

Zamari tensed up as Ezan moved above him. He was expecting him to make a move but was instead surprised to hear him speak. "In a real fight there is no such thing as cheating or disqualifications," Zamari responded, "Also, I requested that you not hold back." Zamari started to let his guard down as Ezan sat down in the air, an indication of an intermission in their spar. The alien lizardman then introduced himself. That was right they had forgone their introductions in favor of getting straight to the training. Shocking Zamari, Ezan dove down with a kick which caused him to tense up. When the lizardman shifted into a kneel, he relaxed yet again. After Ezan formally identified himself, Zamari did the same. "I'm Zamari Wells, second year student and samurai through transmigration only." For some reason Zamari always felt the need to emphasize that last part for he still did not feel that his power truly belonged to him. Until then, he would live two separate identities - one a student skilled at hand-to-hand combat and another a well trained swordsman. |

"Nice meeting ya, Zamari. But if I held nothing back at all, I mean... Having a tail is a little unfair, controlling air is even more unfair, what if I used my proto-sytran form.", and thus he grew in size, becoming a ten feet tall argonian-like being. Could Ezan have more advantage? "I... Don't feel this would be fair, right?", at the very least he was a friendly giant, so there was that. "And I'm not even an adult yet! Imagine once I become an adult by Proto-Sytran standards!" |

Zamari looked up and down as Ezan went from a being a tall human fellow with a tail to being a gargantuan full on lizardman. If this had occurred when he first arrived at Kaneshima Island he would have been very surprised. However, given recent events, he wasn't as shocked to see Ezan's true form as he probably should have been. That didn't mean that Zamari wasn't cautious of it, though. "Only a fool initiates a battle he knows he can't win," Zamari said. "Maybe with the headband I could pose a challenge but I've sworn off using it for the day." Feeling relaxed, Zamari put his hands in his pockets. "By the way, that was a great fight we had. I'm feeling much better now with a change of pace." It was certainly refreshing to have an old fashioned brawl as well delighting to potentially prove to Sanzenmen's spirits that he need not be totally reliant on the headband's powers. Zamari glared at the headband tied to the dummy, wishing to goad the spirits into speaking to him. They chose to remain silent. He won his peace. At least for the time being. |

"Yeah, I got some good bruising either way. At least, it had some funny moments. And at least they got the shut up they kinda were begging for! Hahah!", Ezan headed back to get his coat, slinging it over and fitting his arms in, before returning to the more human-like form. "You might not believe it, but I was quite shorter three years ago. I think I had one meter in that lizard-like form back then." Rotating his shoulder again, Ezan gave it a few pats. "Ah, feels much better. Still a little sore, but much better. Anyways, what are your next plans for today, Zamari?" |

"Normally, after training, I go and get something eat," Zamari replied, his stomach grumbling low. Their spar was so intense on his body that he had worked up an appetite. "I'm still learning about food in Japan, although there are a few familiar restaurants here and there." He was referring to the fast food joints that were strewn throughout the city. Of course those could be found in any major metropolitan area regardless of country. "I'm thinking about trying something new," Zamari said. "Have any recommendations?" He wasn't exactly sure what Ezan's diet consisted of considering that he was in reality a ten feet tall bipedal reptile, but he was sure that it had to be healthy considering his stature. |

"Eating, you say... GREAT idea! And I know the right place! Last I heard, this place called Kyuu-Ooda has been appearing all around Downtown, still being tricky to find. However, if we do find it, it offers almost any meal and drink you can imagine from the whole world!" That's right, the Kyuu-Ooda... It has been a rumor that has gone around for a while, it has caught his interest multiple times but he had yet to find it himself. "Maybe we'll find it today, it could be anywhere.", Ezan was surely optimistic. |

A place that offered any food or drink from around the whole world? That meant Zamari could finally be reunited with his coveted onion rings. The increasing growl of his stomach was enough of a reason for him to at least try and find this Kyuu-Ooda. That was right. It did not sound like a typical restaurant for it was possibly mobile in some aspect, at least that was what Zamari perceived Ezan to be alluding to. "Intriguing," Zamari commented in regards to the Kyuu-Ooda. "If can truly be anywhere then the sooner we start looking the better." He had his doubts about the Kyuu-Ooda but he was determined to satisfy his hunger in the way that only his favorite food could. |

"Certainly. Could you go ahead, however? I'll go fetch my phone, because he may have found some leads on where the Kyuu-Ooda is right now.", one point Ezan was trying to make with this is that the information about its whereabouts might be out already on the internet, knowing how fast the rumors about it flows there. The lizardman was already thinking what to eat, his mind going over the idea of an American BBQ steak, with an apple pie for dessert. He knew he should not eat apple, but he really needed that spiriting that apples causes him. Oh boy, how he loved that feeling now. |
