Name: Lucid Talleyrand
Gender: Female
Age: 16

Height: 153 cm
Weight: Unknown~
Appearance:

Acting Normal

Occupation: Extra, Restaurateur

Residency:
Somewhere in Kaneshima

Personality:
Kind and cheerful, Lucid is a rather empty-headed individual who doesn't have even an ounce of negativity in her. In fact, she is too dumb to feel fear. Her heart can be described as empty light without darkness. At the same time, she is ignorant of such concepts such as mercy and the sanctity of life. Though she doesn't enjoy killing, she also doesn't hate it. It is merely a normal activity, like brushing her teeth or working out. To her, good and bad are just different ways to describe the same thing. Morality is simply something that she can't get her head around, so she settles on 'what she likes' and 'what she doesn't like' as guidance for her actions.

Luckily for others, she generally likes positive things like singing. Her wants are simple and her gratitude is great, but she is ultimately an enemy of justice when she does her job. Her inability to feel guilt or to empathize with most people isn't enough to make her dangerous, though. She is rather incompetent, but has been getting about it recently. Only occasionally does she have brief flashes of something approaching intelligence, before she descends back to her normal level. She doesn't give up easily when her benefactor does give her orders, though. As one of the few people Lucid does hold dear, Scarlett's commands are absolute. With her one true boss holding her leash, the chaos that Lucid causes by accident is kept to a minimum.

Without the witch, the fool's whimsical nature would be completely unrestrained. Who knows what would happen if she had all limiters removed?

History:
There's a group that specializes in customizing things. From weapons to people, the artisans of L'Atelier take any request so long as it's backed with enough money. One sunny day, they received a newborn and an odd set of instructions. Normally, they were called upon for genetic engineering and comprehensive education in a variety of fields to fulfill the mad dreams of men with more money than morals. But this time, they had been instructed to create 'an ideal vessel' and were given a list of traits to cultivate. The only caveat was that there was to be no enhancement, merely training. There were questions raised, but the craftsmen were silenced with money and moved on to their grim work.

Kindness without mercy, strength without brains, a willingness to kill without cruelty, all these and more were the specifications that the artisans moulded the child to. By the age of 10, the girl was perfected and ready to be delivered when a rather unfortunate development occurred. The man who had made the original request had been killed, found dead and mutilated after having been executed in a cult-like sacrifice ritual. The artisans did not know what to do with the girl, as she was a completed product that had no customer. That is, until Scarlett A. Quatermain picked up the bill. Serving the shadowy megacorp Erosion as their Chief Officer of Procurement, there was no way that the witch would miss out on the chance to acquire a rare specimen such as Lucid.

Bought under the pretence that she was to be used as a believable decoy for an assassination, the executive specified that the girl was to receive a minimum of training in the art of killing before paying the artisans double the initial offer. While they were dissatisfied at having to use one of their great works as a disposable prop, the money was enough for them to cooperate. After giving her a crash course which she surprisingly managed to pass, the craftsmen at L'Atelier released the girl into Scarlett's custody and bid her farewell. For some time, it looked like it really would be the end of her as the plan was fine-tuned and the date of the attack drew close. But once again, fate struck and the target died of heart failure before they could even manoeuvre the girl into place.

Left without a purpose yet again, it looked like she would finally be disposed of when Scarlett had a change of heart. The exact reasons were unknown, but the girl's original purpose had influenced the executive's decision. Left alive and still human, the girl was permitted to have a name and some degree of freedom while the executive decided what to do with her. Somebody smarter than her would have taken the opportunity to run away or at least choose a better name, but Lucid stayed around. Having been exposed to the barest hint of kindness for the first time in her life, the girl chose to remain behind out of loyalty and gratitude for that mere scrap of joy.

Something about that decision warmed Scarlett to Lucid's presence. While she was still heartless enough to use the girl for assassinations and other subversive activities, the executive was not about to sacrifice her or even mistreat her. It was an odd sort of fondness, but the two eventually bonded quite deeply. It even culminated in a spirited defence of Lucid's freedom when the crafted girl's true power was discovered. Having successfully managed to keep her beloved assistant securely in her grasp, Scarlett decided to take a chance and sent Lucid to Hyakuji to protect her from her less scrupulous colleagues.

Months passed, and Lucid played games with the lives of those around her. Even then, her actions pushed her closer towards one goal: Finding a way to take Erosion down. As far as plans and goals went, hers were exceedingly simple. She had no moral objection to working for them, it just so happened she knew they were a threat to Scarlett's wellbeing. That simple fact was enough for her to start thinking about the corporation's demise once she realized she had to protect her boss. Having recognized her own lack of merit, Lucid decided to awaken the Seeds of Hope, her term for the people who had the necessary mental fortitude and abilities to overthrow her employers.

That was the full extent of her original plan. She couldn't figure out a way to win, so she'd bring in others who would share her goal, if only in the broadest sense. Rather surprisingly, things went her way. Behind the scenes, Erosion was dismantled piece by piece, until it collapsed in on itself shortly after the Link Joker incident. The brainless, hopeless scheme worked out better than even Lucid expected. Not only was Scarlett's life saved from the scheming of her fellow executives, the witch had found an avenue back into the light. Though Lucid was unsure about her benefactor's attempts at atonement, she followed along as she always did. Loyal to the last, the fool cheerfully supported her boss as best as she could.

There was only one problem. In recent months, Lucid heard whispers of a Smiling Girl. While she would ordinarily chalk it up to people talking about her, her interest only grew as she heard about this mysterious figure offering people 'Seeds of Hope'. To eat one of those Seeds was a gamble, for the outcomes were that the eater would die or survive and acquire new strength. Her counterpart was stealing from her playbook, but the fool liked the competition. In fact, Lucid went to Kaneshima, the centerpoint of the rumours she heard. There, she would start a new game, one with lower stakes but even more fun.

After all, it was rare that she got to face somebody who was just like her!

Liquid Talleyrand

Equipment:
- Aviator sunglasses. A very expensive pair, even. Comes with plenty of spares.
- Two concealed bowie knives
- Memory of Chaos: One Use Item. A lingering thought of horror from the conflict with The Beast. When focused on and remembered, the user gains hyper awareness of the entire area. They can know roughly where everything is in the immediate vicinity until the end of the topic, but exhausts very quickly.
- Aqua's Blessing: A curious little talisman, give by the local 'Goddess' of Kaneshima Shrine, Aqua. A tiny thing that's easy to lose, and yet somehow will always be in one's pocket when they want it. On the back one can see lines and notes, indicating the paper is recycled from sheet music. Holding the talisman, one can feel there is some sort of power there. Grants a one time boon, allowing the owner to take an otherwise damaging - if not lethal - hit unscathed, while music fills the air. After this, the talisman remains, but grants no further protection.

Time for an upgrade.

Liquid Talleyrand

Lucid has acquired a new product for her to use. She now carries a clear bottle filled with viscous pink liquid. The bottle contains a mimic based on her DNA, or 'Goocid', as she would call it. Once freed from its constraints, it quickly expands into a full-on copy of Lucid, though it appears to be made of pink slime. 'Goocid' has a very benign personality compared to its owner, though it will still follow her orders and fight if commanded.

In terms of abilities, the mimic is of average human intelligence. It is also slightly above peak human when it comes to physical prowess. Its liquid composition and lack of organs makes it very resistant to ordinary attacks, though it is vulnerable to both heat and cold. Boiling or freezing, along with other mass destroying forms of assault, are necessary in order to prevent 'Goocid' from reforming.

Its default form is set to Lucid's, so it cannot copy the appearance of others. However, it can stretch and shrink easily. Its minimum size allows it to fit in its container without an issue, while its maximum length is 10 meters. As such, it can easily turn itself into a bridge or slip through cracks in walls. It does not maintain its shape when it feeds, however. In that instance, it turns into a puddle to maximize absorption area.

The mimic needs water to survive, preferably clean water that is slightly alkaline. Less ideal sources would work, though its mood is soured if it has to subsist on something polluted or acidic. The 'Goocid' needs 6 liters of water every 12 hours, lest it becomes dehydrated and weakened. Missing three feedings would be enough to bring it from a healthy state to the brink of death. On the other hand, it would take a feeding or two for it to recover from severe wounds.

Upgraded. A simple thing, Lucid can now aim properly! Also changing the name of the second ability.

L'Atelier Training

Lucid's physical stats are at peak human levels. She possesses basic knowledge of anatomy, as well as some firearm training. Combining her excellent hand-eye coordination along with proper firing technique, her aim has advanced to the point where she can be considered competent, though not quite an expert. She has no skill in hand to hand combat, but her fearless foolishness and her excellent physical ability make her rather troublesome to deal with. However, she definitely has no capacity for stealth or investigation, and is suspicious as hell all the time due to her brainless behaviour.

One of the few things Lucid is skilled at is singing, as she was trained to deliver singing telegrams as part of her cover in the assassination plan. It is also one of the activities she greatly enjoys, partly because Scarlett appreciates her talent. It does prove to be a heavy liability in her job, though.
