This world is home to strange, wonderful, and sometimes downright terrifying things.

It is a world where legends are not mere legends, fairy tales walk in people's midst, magic is practiced to this very day, and the person beside may come from another planet, or another dimension.

From the days that gods and kings ruled the world, to this present era of mass communication and space flight, whether people realize it or not, such beings have had a hand in shaping the world as it stands today.

Even now, there are those who had been gifted, or cursed, to be a part of the world greater than the ordinary, walking, working, fighting, playing and loving amongst the ordinary. Still, they are no more different than anyone else, when it comes to being people. Or at least, they shouldn't be.

For as long as there have been those who hold great power, there have been those who sought to teach them. Across the world, schools like Academia Beluosus have taken in those who would be considered monsters elsewhere. The ancients halls of the Tower of Fang have given rise to many a great magi across the ages. More recently, the likes of Kaimu High and Hyakuji High from Japan, neighboring cities and rival schools, have opened their doors to students of all shapes, sizes, and strange gifts, in the hopes of giving them a true high school education that nevertheless caters to their needs. Others, like Belforest Academy in the United States, lie steeped in controversy, claimed as no more than places to recruit super soldiers from amongst their own students.

Of course, such are only the public side of such a strange world - and they haven't always been so willing to reveal their existence. Even now, whether for the sake of themselves, or for the seeming sake of the world, other organisations cling to the shadows. The United States dismisses the apparent existence of the Bureau for Paranormal Research and Defense, the United Kingdom officially regards 'Hellsing' as a matter of fiction, and the Japanese government will formally deny any and claims that the group 'Arcadia' exists, or has ever existed.

But they have, and with reason: For this world can be dangerous, and it needs protectors. But sometimes, even they have not been enough.

The world - perhaps all of existence - once came to brink of collapse. Though most do not know it, the barriers that would normally separate this universe from others were torn to shreds, and all was nearly consumed by the darkness of the Heartless, and power known only as Kingdom Hearts. Disaster, however, was averted. Universes were restored to their rightful relations, and the dark being that instigated this entire incident, was laid to rest. Few now know this tale, but those who do, and could only watch from afar, grew concerned.

These groups, and the governments with which they were aligned, shared their concerns. From these concerns, came the conclusion: What the world had was not enough. From this conclusion, they created a plan. A plan to develop a city, with specialized educational institutions, facilities, and faculty for the many gifted, superpowered youth across the world - those who would be taking the future into their hands, if they so chose. After much debate, the project began development on the island of Kaneshima, off the coast of Kyushu, Japan, in the hope that within several years, this new beacon of hope would be ready.

Then came the being known as The Void, and its army known as Link Joker.

Set to subjugate, perhaps even consume, this world as it had many others before it, this being's crusade was no secret. After a year of on and off attacks by agents seeded across the globe, the final battle was waged at the city of Hyakuji, and its student fought valiantly, even against their own. Friends became foes and became friends again, and with the aid of allies from beyond the farthest reaches, victory was achieved. Link Joker was defeated, their armies pushed back, and the victors turned to celebration.

Others turned to outcry.

Pressured by public perception, and fearing the reality that they did not know what else might be out there, lying in wait, those charged with overseeing the development of the new Academy in Kaneshima pushed up their timetable. Staff were trained and employed, invitations for enrollment were dispatched across the globe, and travel plans were drafted for those who would accept. Soon, Senki Academy shall open its doors, and all the world will be watching.
