It was another hot day in Kaneshima, especially for the blonde known as Madeline. Thankfully she took to some cooler options when it came to her apparel, Madeline sporting a pair of denim short shorts with a white t-shirt that was rolled up a bit and tied in a knot at her side. Not only that but she was also eating some cup ice cream with a mini spoon at the steps of the shrine, hiding away underneath some decent shade.

"Japanese summers, oh how I don't miss them at all."

She said to herself before taking a scoop of ice cream into her mouth, holding it in place to help cool her down. Naturally she'd be at the beach by now but she didn't want to go alone, and so she chose the next best thing: riding around on her motorcycle through the city and wherever else she could. Her motorcycle wasn't too far away from where she was sitting, parked in a nearby parking spot for visitors of the shrine.

You are neither lucky or unlucky.

...She didn't realize this kind of omikuji fortune result exists.

Your desire may or may not come true. Your business dealings will be okay. You will do averagely well in your studies. You do not have anyone you are looking for, your romantic relationship will go nowhere, you will be staying where you are...

What kind of half-hearted fortune is this?!

The girl tore the omikuji paper in half in annoyance, before tossing it away over her shoulder. It's okay, she probably wouldn't be cursed for that since she really only did it out of boredom anyway.

Probably.

Sena Ryouga sighed.

Since she had actually moved here properly instead of just visiting this place like some kind of migratory bird, Sena had kept herself busy with quite a lot of things. Aside from her first semester of university pretty much taking up her time, she also had a certain half-ghost girl to keep her company.

...

...Actually, that's pretty much all that she's been doing lately, isn't it?

She hasn't even been doing her modeling work lately. Forget about school clubs, she hadn't even been putting up fight challenges on that school.

She thought she was just imagining it. But right now it really feels like her life is actually annoyingly empty and meaningless without a purpose.

Huff. The girl in a light and airy vest and flowing knee-high pants sighed quite a bit angrily, to no one in particular, as she sat down at the bottom of the shrine's staircase.

The more she thought about the heat, the more she wished she were back home where having the A/C on meant it wasn't too costly and it was vented throughout the entire house rather than just the room one was in.

"Ugh, this sucks,"

She said, attempting to cool off by fanning herself with the collar of her shirt, allowing her upper half to air out. Thankfully she was wearing something underneath, considering she was wearing a white shirt and she was a little sweaty to boot. Not only that but her unexpected guest would probably see a thing or two as she fanned herself, so luckily (or unluckily) she'd only see the bra she had underneath.

'vzzt vzzt'

Madeline looked over at her phone, seeing she received a message and then realizing that someone else was sitting on the steps with her. She ignored the message for now, taking interest in the person who didn't seem to take notice of her. Or at least that's how it appeared.

"What's got you all riled up?"

Madeline asked, sensing the girl was a bit upset due to the attitude she was giving off. She was half expecting a Spongebob quote from her, the scene coming to mind of its main character asking his friend why he was upset and receiving an odd answer in return.

Sadly, she wouldn't be getting any odd answer. Maybe an odd look, though.

Then again, this wouldn't be the first time strangers decided to start a conversation with her, for whatever reason.

At least this time it's a cute girl and wasn't some strange guys. Doesn't seem that much older than Sena herself.

Fine, she'll bite. "...The sky is not falling,"

...What did we say about not giving a strange answer? Sena gave a shallow sigh, at least feeling her annoyance vented a bit from that silly answer. "Nothing worrisome, really," The bespectacled girl answered properly this time, propping her chin on her hands. "I guess this is what people call a midlife crisis?"

"...I'm eighteen years old," Sena added quickly with a snap, as though she had to clarify that to avoid misunderstanding.

"...The sky is not falling,"

Madeline thought about what she said, smirking a bit before looking back to her from looking up at the sky.

"That'd be pretty fun, don'tcha think? I bet school would be cancelled."

She played with the idea, only scratching the surface with what possibilities would be in store for a scenario such as that.

"A midlife crisis?"

Madeline asked, looking to with a raised eyebrow. However, hearing that Sena was only eighteen years old, didn't change the fact it sounded weird in the first place.

"So, are you gonna buy a BMW or something like that? I don't think you're balding either."

A bit of teasing came Sena's way, though the way Madeline said it made it sound a little authentic, as if she thought Sena was considering it.

...Wait, balding?

Of course she's not balding, but Sena couldn't help but get momentarily nervous as she ran her fingers through her hair, just to check if any is falling off.

Thankfully not. That would have been a disaster for a girl. "I... I dunno. I don't even have a license..." She hadn't actually considered getting a BMW, or a car in general. Though to be more accurate, she hadn't actually considered even doing anything for herself, which was the real problem.

Is that even called a midlife crisis? She feels silly now for even mentioning that. "...What do you do in your free time?" Sena asked. Oddly enough, considering the conversation had already began, she didn't quite feel as reserved.
