Basket Case ~ Manage My Burden; Closed

Raiores thought about it for a moment, it was nice she considered his offer. "Hmm..." He didn't think he could be of much help in a basketball team. But it could be fun. "Will you go easy on me?" He chuckled as he asked. Having knocks as a manager wouldn't be easy work probably, but in his head, it's fun indeed.

He reached his hand to take the bar. He though it probably wouldn't fill him up for the night, but it'd do.

Unfortunately though, he couldn't have it yet. Not whole at least. "Nothing major really, they forgive me I believe." He answered as he took a bite of the bar she had given and sat on a bench. "Let's not talk about it, ok? Thanks for the snack!"

"..." Knocks seemed suddenly annoyed by something. While his mouth was still full of granola, she reached over and pinched his cheek, giving it just enough of a tug to give him a shock.

"There's something about care free people like that, who just say 'go easy on me' or 'don't worry about it' with a smile on their face that makes me want to see them make a pained expression." As quickly as she'd grabbed his face, she released her small, but firm grip. "Being in an athletic club is about working hard with others and doing your best because your failures don't belong to just you, they belong to everyone. It's important to seek forgiveness for your mistakes from your teammates when you burden them with your failures, and it's the same in the real world."

If there was one thing she knew about, it was forgiveness and about holding grudges. For all her talk, was she really any better? When it came to Nicole and Chizu...

She considered the discrepancy for a moment.

"Maybe it would easier if we were all like you, though." She said in her usual flat tone. Was she being serious or sarcastic? It was hard to tell. "Do you think people would like me more if I smiled a lot and joked about everything and never took anything seriously?" Maybe she was being serious...

Or was she thinking about that girl?

At the very least it was a bit insulting.

Raiores looked annoyed by the cold hand holding him. "Wah!" He directed his look towards the little girl. Despite his look, he wasn't annoyed. Actually, physical contact felt pleasurable, not sexually, but the attention he hadn't felt in long warmed his heart. He was the transfer student with no friends after all.

"I don't fit in those then, sorry!" He smiled at her warmly, trying to make up for saying what she probably didn't want to hear. He wasn't willing to change for a basketball team, but was she for people's love?

"Hmm..." He giggled as he stood up and walked towards her. "No more people will like you, sorry. You have to do with those who already do, because only them will love you unconditionally." He offered her about half the bar she had given him, what he hadn't eaten yet. "You haven't eaten either, have you?"

He had no idea what she was thinking, but of what experience he had, she didn't seem like the someone who believes in people who love her. And despite her toughness, she appeared as if that's just the surface to hide a weak someone in need of feeling loved. And so, he decided to find a way to offer that feeling, because she sounded like a friend he'd like to make.

"..." She wanted to say something like 'don't ask to join a club if you're not serious' or something equally mature sounding, but her thoughts were cut short by his next reply.

Changing herself... really wouldn't help at all? Was he serious?

She would have to do with the people who already liked her? But that was...

Was there really anyone at all?

No, there wasn't anyone. She was already completely alone. Such a simple, carefree person had said something so direct and honest and utterly insensitive! Her demeanor remained as cold as ever but inside her emotions were stirring like a bubbling tar pit. She wanted to say something cruel, chastise this person who couldn't be serious and looked down on people who were. But it wasn't really his fault, after all. Regardless, she needed to get out.

"I'm not hungry." Not exactly right, more like she wasn't a normal human and didn't feel hunger at all. A stray hand reached for the door frame of the storage room, tiny bronze fingers groping the sliding door. With a swift and ruthless tug the door was forced open, a sickening crack accompanying the force as the frame of the door snapped and splintered.

Knocks merely stood silently, her eyes drifting to the gymnasium now open to them.

"Ah, look. It wasn't locked after all."

...It was definitely locked before

"I see." He watched as she walked towards the door and opened it. He knew she was a strong person, possibly capable of breaking the lock. "Hmm..."

He stared at her blankly for a moment, as if he was thinking about what he should do now. He walked up to her and looked in her eyes. "You... Don't have friends?" He asked in a gentle tone, trying to comfort her.

She didn't look or sound upset or mad, but he knew something was wrong with her. Maybe she couldn't quite express it well, but it was clear she wasn't happy. Well, of course she wouldn't be. (She really never believed anyone ever liked or cared for her, huh?) He was upset that was most likely the case. And he wished to do something about it.

It seems once again...

This person said something way too direct.

"Why would you be worried if I didn't have any friends?" She asked coldly. "We hardly know each other. Is it because I seem weak or like someone to be pitied?" Where did this feeling of pride come from? What was that feeling in her chest? Nothing, probably...

"You should just be happy it turned out this way, now you won't be locked in a closet with someone like me all evening. It will help keep your life simpler since you won't have to be involved." Come to think of it, if she could've broken that lock at any time, didn't that mean she'd kept them inside their on purpose?

Did she trap them in there on purpose?

"No, it's because..." Raiores looked down for a moment, as if in knock's sadness. He lifted his head up and smiled at her as he explained, "You sorta... Matter to me..." He let out a laugh, as an attempt to lighten the mood.

He was just telling someone he's supposed to think of as a stranger that he cares for her. Is it normal, even with her attitude, trying to repel everyone away from her. It's was unlikely she'd even believe him, he was probably still a pervert in her eyes, that's what he thought at least. Well, but it just so happens to be true. Maybe perverts are nice people really.

"Being locked was kinda fun with you. I'd rather be involved than have to leave you."

What was that he said just now...?

You sorta... Matter to me...

Why would he say that?

Who the hell was this boy? And why did everything he say make her feel like her head was on fire?

Knocks felt her eyes go wide at the unprovoked confession, a fog of confused sensations descending over her thoughts. It wasn't anger she felt, but it made her non-existent heart race madly. She wanted to hit him for being such an idiot, but that kind of aggression was so foreign to her. Where did it come from?

...

"I... think I understand." She said calmly, avoiding looking directly at him. Could this really be happening like this? Now? "You say whatever you want without thinking. You do whatever you like as if what you do only affects you. You're cheerful no matter what and act like it's normal for everyone to just get along." While she knew people like that existed, the truth was no one had ever really noticed her before.

"You're not a pervert at all, Raiores-san. You're... an idiot." Well, he could be an idiot pervert, but she no longer had any evidence for that now. "But it's not as if I hate how you are..." Her voice dropped to a near whisper. "If... you can tolerate a cold person like me... If it wouldn't be too much trouble for you..." Her eyes rose to meet his, and through her cold expression a bit of anxious hope poured dimly through.

"Would you be my friend?"

"You're not a pervert" alongside a brief description of what type of person he was. Despite a few mistakes here and there, Knocks could understand Raiores a little. Better than most people he knew, if not all. Very little are these "all" anyway.

Never thought of it that way actually, but correct! An idiot is pretty accurate for me, heheh~"

His eyes looked down to meet the pair that raised to meet them, and his smile shone brighter at her face. "Oh ain't chu so cute." Raiores giggled pinching her cheek before he continued, "Would you tolerate me?" With tongue sticking out and right eye closed, Raiores happily accepted.

Knocks' smile flipped almost immediately to a grimace. He was lucky.

Touching people without their permission was a dangerous pastime, especially at Senki. Were she more violently inclined, he could've suffered seriously for acting without thinking like that.

"Tolerate... seems like a good word for it..." She mumbled out, seemingly annoyed. He was such an idiot, it was no surprise he was so lucky. People this stupid couldn't die if they wanted. Still, looking at his smiling, carefree expression, her own face couldn't help but soften up a little. It wasn't exactly a smile, but it was something.

Her eyes shifted back to the ground. Her grip on her own fingers tightened and her feet shifted awkwardly in place.

"Let's... Let's get along, then..."

Another small step forward.

Can you see me, nii-san?

Raiores

Raiores smiled at what expression she made. It filled his heart with warmth. He let go of her face, not counting much on the luck that saved him just a few seconds earlier. It was clear from the change of her look at first she didn't like it, but just let him be.

She was acting shy, which he say pretty normal for a tsundere opening up to someone. Whatever he thought that meant. Actually, thinking is a waste of effort anyway, thinning nothing of it was the lazy way. The Rai way.

"Good luck then! Don't push yourself too for. Just remember, it's alright to get mad at me sometimes, even I do so from time to another~" Was that some sort of joke? Really, it isn't. Getting mad only sometimes was a good sign at least, not like Knocks would do any better with such a person as Rai around.

Well, luckily not for long. "Hoy, see ya laterz I guess!" He randomly greeted her and took his leave, heading to his dorm after unwrapping a lollipop and putting it in his mouth. Leaving out of the blue like that could've been rude, but he couldn't exactly explain how he was out of social skills to stay and spend some more time. He hoped she wouldn't be upset or get the wrong idea at least~
