Halloween. The one time of year every aspect of Melina's appearance paid off. People were scared of spiders and while it was a TOTALLY STUPID PHOBIA it was definitely one the Drider could manipulate to have some real fun! It was to this end she had, after a few meetings with the student council, making a deal with the drama club, roping in the muscle of some friends and family all for the sake of assembling a haunted house in the largest of the gymnasium's complexes!

The first people would know that something was different about the gym was the sign over the entrance reading "The Haunted House of Kaneshima!" accompanied by numerous oddly authentic webs framing the entrance and mist seeping out between the gaps. The door would open with a groaning creak (the doors hadn't always been that rusty had they?!) and inside was...a skeleton sitting at a desk?! Wait was it a costume...? Or an actual skeletal? Whatever the truth was this skeleton looked from from behind the counter and smiled.

"Welcoooooooome!" And up the skeleton jumped from behind the counter slipping a bowler hat upon his head. Despite his skeletal nature he still sported a single oddly alive eye and some rather nice threads in the form of a suit. "You are the day's first visitors! Let me tell you all about this wonderful little house of mine!" Whoever the visitor was they would find this well spoken skeleton throwing an arm around their shoulders, catching a cane thrown from somewhere off screen and then gesturing towards the two story structure before them. It was seeping a heavy mist that chilled people to the bone.

"As you can see it is a pretty imposing place! But please don't be put off! I know it's full of ghosts and decorated with cobwebs but we've just been dying to have guests for so long!" The skeletal gentleman laughed a hearty, if raspy, guffaw his chest pressed forth as if his non-existent lungs were full of life. It was rather odd the skeleton was so lively but back to the Haunted House! It looked an awfully lot like the mansion from a certain video game involving zombies and a certain sandwich however it was adorned with gargoyles, Gothic architecture and there was a decrepit nature about it. "Would you like to join us? We're going to have our weekly Jazz night!" A...Jazz night?....was this creepy Haunted House really hosting a jazz night?

The Haunted House of Kaneshima!
Prizes available to those who can endure the full experience!
Come visit us at the Gymnasium in the evening!

A small blonde girl wearing a sailor-fuku stood in front of the gymnasium, staring up at the carefully-crafted sign that hung above the entrance. Her eyes shone with determination, primarily because of that second line of the sign: THe promise of a prize for those who made it all the way through the haunted house! Something that Aria knew she would have no trouble with. Despite her unassuming appearance, she had enough years of experience under her belt to firmly say that something as childish as a haunted house wasn't going to get to her! Ghosts didn't even exist!

...or, so she would have said before arriving at Senki. Unfortunately, she herself was now counted among the numerous supernatural phenomena that populated the island, even if technically she was a little more mechanical in nature. She wasn't fond of it, but... perhaps, being a robot meant that she wouldn't even be able to see ghosts, if they did exist! Though, really, what was the chance a real ghost would be at some haunted house attraction like this?

Yup, that skeleton sitting at the counter through the doors was just a prop. It wasn't even mov- "Hweh?!" That sudden exclamation from the bony figure immediately caused the petite visitor to shriek, barely having any time to process what was happening before the undead creature put an arm over her shoulder and presented to her the haunted house.

"D-Don't surprise me like that!" It was surreal enough to see a skeleton moving all on its own, but... there was surely some trick to it, right? Staring at the suited skeleton so intently, Aria barely even realised what it was she was being asked. Her already bewildered expression was pumped full of even more confusion, her eyebrow raised quizzically. "A...what? Jazz night? I... suppose...?" Was this the challenge that she'd get a prize for enduring? It really didn't seem like it, but... well, she wasn't about to turn down a prize! This would be much easier than she'd expected!

"Well then little lady go in go in! We're all ready and waiting in the main hall! The house is pretty easy to navigate!" And in Aria would be pushed the door of the house creaking shut behind her...if she entered that is. The interior of the haunted house was just as dingy as the outside! Cobwebs filled every nook and cranny home to numerous spiders some small and some large. The inside of the building was significantly more animated than the outside. Floorboards creaked, doors groaned and the windows rattled. Of course all of this was nothing compared to the fact there was GHOSTS flying above Aria's head...!

There did not seem to be mere sheets decorated to look like ghosts but actual ghosts on account of how Aria could easily see through them. A few of the ghosts did actually wave as they hovered through walls apparently heading towards this so called "Jazz night." Of course while the spectres could easily fly through the walls Aria...could not meaning she'd have to find another way around! Luckily the sound of Jazz music playing meant she'd always know what direction she needed to go! On the subject of directions there was only a few ways actually open to Aria.

The first of these two paths was a trap door in the floor at the end of the hallway which was propped up and open resting against a wall. The other option would be to go upstairs which begged the question...why did this entrance hall have no doors?! Surely the entrance hall of a house would have doors leading to the lounge, parlour and kitchen among other things right?! Well this was a haunted house! So it was only obvious that it'd be designed to be obtuse! Whatever path that Aria picked she'd be watched the entire way by....paintings! Yes there was paintings that lived out their scenes moving and acting as one would expect however a fair handful of them seemed to be watching the blond girl. Perhaps these paintings were just elaborate decorations?...

"Eh? Wait, I didn't...!" Without a moment to reconsider, Aria was pushed through the doorway of the house - which closed shut immediately after her! She practically froze at the entrance, looking around very cautiously. She'd been expecting it to be a rather flimsy, see-through job, but... the creaking floorboards, the spiderweb-covered corridor stretching out before her, with old paintings whose eyes surely followed her... this was far from a half-assed attempt at a haunted house! Gulping, the blonde stepped forward, rather thankful for the light of the lamps that dimly illuminated the way forward.

"It's... just an event, there's nothing to be...eeeek?!" It wasn't the haunted house that was see-through, it was the ethereal figures floating above her head! Spectres that blurred and faded in and out of her optic processors, flowing like a river through the walls and along the corridor. She'd only taken one step, and the poor girl had already frozen once more. "T...They're just projections! If they were ghosts, I wouldn't even be able to see them! Haha!" It wasn't really very reassuring to herself, but it was enough to allow her to nervously press onwards.

Onwards through the rows of paintings, which were doing a lot more than keeping her eyes on her. The further she went, the more animated they became... entire scenes playing out within the frames, which came to a stop eerily just to watch her pass. They were just display screens! Right...?

It wasn't long before the path split between a trap door and a stairway leading up. Aria didn't even have to think about her choices, and immediately head up the stairs. There was no way she was descending into the cellar of a haunted house! If she went up, there could be light, and there would only be a certain size and number to the floors... but going down, there was no saying how much space could be underground, how deep she could end up going!

Projections were they? Mere falsehoods designed to frighten? The girl really had no idea what on Earth she was dealing with was she? It was as Aria made her way groaning well worn staircase one of the ghosts would fly up out of the ground before her! If she had felt cold before Aria's entire body would feel a deep bone chilling cold as the ghost ended up flying through her body. If that was not distressing enough the spectre then looked down at her scowling as if to say "watch where your going!" not that any audible complaint was uttered. If these ghosts were really mere projections how could they respond like living things?!

The house only got worse, by which I of course mean more decrepit, as the first floor of the house was covered in even more spider webs than the ground level! But that fact was nothing compared to the fact there was giant.plate.size.spiders residing in the webs looking at Aria. Every spider was looking at her. The one nearest to Aria, having formed his web at the top of the stairs railings, stared motionless at the female student before.....waving at her. Yes he waved at her and then, perhaps helpfully or unhelpfully, pointed towards the entrance to the attic; it was clear that was where Aria was supposed to go but then again there was a few other doors on the first floor. Perhaps it'd be a good idea to flee through them? Or just GET AWAY FROM THE SPIDERS.

Of course on the subject of spiders there was an incredibly big web blocking the only open doorway out of the first floor landing and it was apparently unoccupied. Aria would discover the gigantic overgrown spiderweb was unoccupied not because it was visibly empty but because there was a sign stuck to it reading "out for lunch. Do please wrap yourselves up if you get stuck. I'll see to you after I return." which was....just what?! What kind of spider abandoned their own web and had the audacity to ask victims to trap themselves in it?! The ghosts were still making their way through the walls and floors of the house heading towards the source of jazz music wafting through the halls albeit damped audibly by the fact it had to pass through walls. If only Aria could pass through walls herself!
