Ezan gave a smirk as he had scored a hit, and prepared to block the kicks as Zamari came at him. Each kick encountered an air cushion on his arm or legs, soon to be countered by low and high kicks as well. But the next chance his attacks were to be blocked, the guy with lizard features continued: "Each of us numbers see each other as a brother or sister too, before and after the programming comes off. That's why #1's death hit me hard. But he got better, at least in the timeline I came from. They managed to clone him and seems he retained his memory to a T, because he did remember seeing and hearing my horror at what happened, and did not blame me for what happened... He knew his CO was a jerk." |

Ezan wasn't letting up and was not allowing Zamari any room to score a hit. As each of his kicks were blocked, Zamari intensified his glare as he attempted to track Ezan's movements. Focusing required that he zone out of their conversation if only for a second or two. He realized that attributing more attention to the conversation than the fight was what caused him to get hit in the last exchange. Ezan took advantage of that and he was going to do the same should he let up. "Family is important...." The subject matter was beyond interesting but Zamari could not afford to make back to back mistakes. He would have to downplay Ezan's latest statement until he regained the upper hand. I'm going to have to try something different! Zamari raised up his leg as if he were going to do a front kick and paused before twisting sideways, shifting it into a sidekick. It was a feint and probably an obvious one at that. Fighting Ezan straight up was futile. Zamari had to finally accept it. |

Another hit he got in managed to cause him to frown instead, worried that Zamari was losing the balance of his focus. Ezan crossed his arms and gave a nod after such statement was made by Zamari. "More than important even. Without a fatherly or motherly image, or even sisterly or brotherly, who will we look up to? Who will lead us, and where to?", as he explained that he braced for Zamari's kick, but was caught in that it was on his side. While the samurai did score one, the Lizardman used an arm to hold it in place. "It's still funny to think: the human who I imprinted as a brother for me here on Earth is a thief, and even then he choose to raise me to be righteous and not get into the crime life.", Ezan gave a chuckle and pushed Zamari's foot away, before doing what would be a sidekick of his own, but instead his foot was raised halfway through the twist and brought down towards Zamari's shoulder, the same one that had been hurt previously. But his foot would stop two inches from an impact, the air around his ankle making it sound like faint unintelligible whispers, fading into silence. "We need to work on that. You know, keeping the focus in a balance. I heard some people have this Muscle Memory specially centered around combat, where they can do anything all the while they fight like a pro. It would surely come in handy for a samurai such as yourself.", Ezan sighed and drew his foot away from Zamari's shoulder and back to the floor. Edited by GrimRPer, Jun 30 2017, 10:48 AM.

Feeling his foot collide with Ezan's side, Zamari felt a surge of satisfaction. Alas, the feeling was dispersed when he felt Ezan's hands clamp down on his leg. "Shit," Zamari cursed as he was trapped. How was he going to get out of this one? "We can learn things from people from all walks of life." Zamari did not believe that people could be classified as purely good or evil. He would rather designate them as right or wrong based on the reasoning behind their actions and the potential concequences. "And it isn't unusual for parents and guardians to want the best for their children regardless of their own shortcomings." There were things his parents did that he was sure they weren't proud of. They had their reasons and that was that. Zamari was not to follow the same path. When Zamari was freed from Ezan's grasp he leaned to jump back. Ezan didn't just let him go free. Zamari realized that when his own kick came barreling towards his shoulder. There isn't enough time for me to dodge! He was going to have to either block or sacrifice another part of his body like he did earlier in the fight. He shuddered to think how intense the pain would be if he were to be hit in the shoulder. When Ezan's foot stopped just short of his shoulder he exhaled. After he retracted his foot, Zamari retreated to avoid another such attack. "I'm not used to fighting in cordial circumstances." If muscle memory would help then he had no reason to oppose the suggestion. Zamari raised his fists and separated his feet as he shifted back into his fighting stance. While doing so he felt a jagged pain streak up his injured shoulder. "Ergh!" The pain was so strong that Zamari had to drop his guard and clench it with his other hand. 'Why now?" He had been reckless and was starting to pay the price for it. Curse the White Giant. |

"It's a new skill to acquire. Alternatively, play games and talk with someone, that is another way to multitask and find that balance. ?", Ezan observed Zamari recoil in pain, "It's a really good thing I didn't land that kick... Have you got someone to check on it? I personally let Nova handle my wounds." Leaning back, he sat rested on the air, as if an invisible beach chair was there. A sigh escaped his lips, followed by a chuckle, due to something that amused him greatly: "You know, you put quite a fight even when recovering from old wounds." |

Zamari bit his lower lip as he braced the pain. "I got hurt in the fight with the Giant. The wound's been stitched up but I still have a grip to go before I'm back A-OK." While his physical wound had at least started to heal his mental wounds were still open. "I was too careless and I let it get me." There was a sharpness in his tone. Although the White Giant was a formidable foe, one that neither Zamari nor his comrades could face on their own, he was ashamed that he sustained a lasting injury during battle. I can't believe I was weak enough to be scarred. Ezan's compliment to his efforts streamed through Zamari's ears. It wasn't until after several seconds of wallowing that he even realized what he said. "I guess...." The injury should have never been there to hold him back in the first place. "If I wasn't hurt I could've given you a better fight." In that regard he felt like he not only failed himself but Ezan as well. He owed him his full strength and was unable to provide it because he fought the White Giant too recklessly. I'm not even sure if my shoulder will ever feel right again. He let out a sigh. Those were thoughts that he need not indulge in. He was told that the injury wasn't that bad so he should at least have enough faith in himself that he would fully recover. "I can't let it happen again." Was that resolve even possible to keep? Life was uncertain and Zamari did not have as much control over his fate as he thought he did. |

"Damn, really?! It must have been a really rough fight. I can't possibly imagine myself to fight that monstrous thing. At least you lived to fight another day, that is what is important. And you weren't alone either, right?", Ezan frowned for a brief moment, as he was reminded of how that incident affected the life of many. A nod in response to the idea of Zamari having the possibility to fight better when fully healed and a few words would meet said statement: "But what matters is that you still fought well, don't you think? Try not to let the incident or our sparring session's result get to your head negatively, you were able to endure a fight against a giant and put up a pretty good fight, while wounded, against an alien being that was not holding back." |

There was truth to Ezan's words. "We fought together and the thing fell. With that said I'm happy." The goal was achieved. But, Zamari was left with his reservations about the ordeal. "That was the strongest enemy I've ever faced. I don't know what I expected of myself." There were probably those who thought he fared well but by getting injured Zamari failed to meet his own expectations. "I anticipate that there will only be stronger foes ahead. Maybe I'm just being paranoid...but if I'm already taking serious blows now then what will happen next time?" It was a hard pill to swallow that maybe he was not ready yet. "Whatever it takes I have to get stronger. I've settled on that." Zamari was adamant that it was unacceptable for him to sustain just a hindering injury. "I've been trying something new. When I meditate," Zamari started. "I've been doing it with the headband on as a means of communing with the spirits. It's been arduous but I've decided that I'm going to have to take risks." Was Zamari deliberately doing something dangerous by pursuing the spirits that plagued him? He didn't think it really mattered. "I'll never get all of them on my side but I think it may be possible for me to at least find common ground with some." He wondered what Ezan's perspective on this tactic was. It was right here in this dojo when I first challenged them. And though he did not spend much time there it held some significance to him because of that milestone. |

Flipping forward in place and standing on the floor again. "Now, now... If you worry too much or too little, bad things will always happen. Imagine playing chess or cards against someone: If you let them know that you messed up, they will play more recklessly, because they know they are winning. And if you look to chill, they know you got a trick or two to defeat them and will play more defensively.", accordingly Ezan made gestures as to weight the possibilities on one hand and on another. Listening to Zamari's meditation plans made Ezan give a smirk and nod in approval of the idea. "That's right! If you can get them to accept you or at least not bully you, even if little by little, it's already a huge progress." |

"Now I'm going to take a proactive approach." It was a change that he was felt was needed. Instead of waiting for the spirits to accost him he was going to take the fight to them. "I have a long road ahead but then again we all do." It was the most optimistic he had been in probably forever but it was progress nonetheless. Just as Ezan said. "I owe you a better fight. Hold me to it." It was a demand. While Zamari did feel like he owed Ezan his full strength he also wanted to give it for his own measure. But even while hurt I was able to get a few hits in. He was going to have to learn to be satisfied with the small results before graduating to the big. As someone who held himself to a high standard, it was hard but he was trying. |

It was truly amusing to see Zamari aiming to take the upper hand on those spirits, and Ezan couldn't hide his amusement at the idea at all. "That's correct, we all have a long road ahead, some more than others.", as a matter of fact both Ezan and Zamari knew someone or more that would have a REALLY long road ahead. "Hohoho, I'll look forward to that. But heal your shoulder first, we'll use wooden swords to practice something a little more different next time. Plus I'll bring Nova along, in case we need a quick treatment. And Chairo, 'cause he needs to learn some more from observation. So... What next?", he stretched a bit while saying that. |

"That's fine with me," Zamari agreed to Ezan's future training proposal. There was the problem that Zamari seemed to be unable to use swords without his transformation, but like the spirits maybe that was a weakness that could be surpassed? The only way to find out was to try naturally. As for what came next, Zamari wasn't exactly sure. "My shoulder's hurting pretty bad so I should probably rest it." While he would have loved to continue their match but his shoulder just wasn't allowing him to. "Do you have anything in particular in mind?" He figured asking was cordial as opposed to taking his leave abruptly. |

"If you have any other ideas, don't hesitate in telling me. Dunno, we could even do a brief meditation before our next training session, and thankfully we won't end this one with some bad bruises.", Ezan patted Zamari's shoulder, not the hurt one thankfully, as he spoke. It was entertaining for him, to see Zamari progressing day after day. Eventually, they would grow strong enough to overcome the obstacles that would come in their life. "So for now, take care of yourself and ping me once you are fully recovered. Or before then, if you need Nova to speed the recovery up for you." |

"I'll be in touch." Zamari gave Ezan a curt nod as he patted his shoulder. Once their goodbyes were said and down, he headed towards the dojo's exit. Before leaving he looked back at Ezan. "See you around." While Zamari was far from the friendliest kid in town he had to say that he rather enjoyed the interactions he had so far with Ezan. He was nothing like the dudes in his neighborhood back home - the ones who only wanted to cause trouble and have fun rather than study and prepare for their futures. I guess I'd consider him a friend. At the moment he felt that Ezan was the closest thing he had to one. An associate at least. For Zamari, developing any sort of positive relationship that wasn't familial was progress, not physically but mentally. He not only needed to grow stronger but he also needed to learn how to make comrades. Fighting against the White Giant made him realize that. |

"See ya then.", with Zamari gone for now, Ezan pondered by himself about his own path. What would he choose? Could he be a freelancer photographer forever? Should he pursue an actual job? But there was no point in thinking this now, thus he decided to retire to his room and perhaps have a well earned rest. |
